As we all know there was an obvious issue of light pole thin models walking during fashion shows who looked as if they haven't eaten anything but a cube of cheese in an entire year. Earlier today, the French Parliament announced a new law that requires models to have a BMI of at least 18 before going to work; or at least 121 pounds for anyone who is 5’7. This takes effect in Spain, Italy, and Israel.
Models will under go medical examination before and after shows to ensure they are maintaining proper weight. Agencies or designers that book models under the required weight are subject to a 75,000 euros ($81,152) and up to six months in jail. There are still questions arising from models who are naturally then that come from other places. I agree that this law is needed because society idolizes these models and creates an image of being "thin" is in. Hopefully this law is enforced and help kill the ideology of this skinny as hell era. What do you guys think of the skinny models? Is this to harsh? Let me know. (StyleBlazer)
